Each Best Value School Award recipient has been subjected to a rigorous process conducted by the higher education experts at University Research & Review (UR&R) and has met our stringent requirements. We recommend these institutions.
First, a school must be nominated, either by a third party or by UR&R’s Nominating Committee. Next, UR&R researchers examine costs to attend the school.
If the costs are deemed reasonable the next step is to scour the Internet to see what students are saying about the school. Each student comment is copied verbatim and reviewed for validity; spurious complaints are discounted.
If a majority of student comments are favorable, we move on to the relevant metrics (not all metrics are relevant in our opinion). Lastly, a personal discussion of the school’s merits with a school executive, particularly focusing on what makes the school “special,” is required.
Then the Selection Committee votes, a majority required for the designation Best Value School.
(This entire process is conducted without cost to the school; it cannot be “paid for.”)
