Saint Martin, Ohio (rural, about 40 mi. east of Cincinnati, where they have a branch)
2-year, Regionally accredited
A repeat Best Value School Designee, Chatfield is 100% classroom instruction; no online courses are offered. It’s a small school – about 400 students – where about 40% of the students attend part time. Although there is a Roman Catholic affiliation it is not a “religious” school. It is best known for providing individual support to students in its cozy environment.
Most students come from Ohio, three-quarters are female and about half are African American. The age mix is half 24 and under. Students love the place and the family atmosphere and working towards associates degrees with the objective of transferring to complete a bachelor’s degree.
Costs are very reasonable, the school has open admission (no tedious application and acceptance policy like many “selective” schools), regional accreditation allows for transfer of credits, and a staff that is really interested in students’ success all makes for an attractive alternative for Ohio – and some Midwestern – residents.
