Greenville University’s pillars are Faith & Community, and its students, 90% of whom are under 25, are among the most satisfied with their whole experience that we’ve seen in our research for 2017 Best Value School awardees. Located in town (Greenville, Illinois, population about 7,000), the 50 acre campus is home to just over 1,000 undergraduate students, 40% of whom are from out of state, almost all of whom are attending fulltime. Greenville offers multiple programs for graduate students, many of which are online or are hybrid degree programs. We like grad programs that are online, and many of Greenville’s 200-plus grad students take advantage of this progressive way to earn a degree.
Affiliated with the Free Methodist Church (but it’s not necessary to be a Christian to attend this college – they accept students from all walks of life and backgrounds), Greenville University offers 50+ undergraduate majors, one area of which – no surprise – is theology where several bachelor programs are available to those who wish to serve. The most popular degree programs are education and business, where bachelor and master degrees are offered. Bachelor degree programs in biology, and visual/performing arts are also popular. And Greenville recently added a new degree program in engineering, which has proven to be a major success with students.
While Greenville University posts a cost to attend for first year fulltime students living on campus of about $35,000 the institution provides scholarships or grants to almost every student (99% receive generous aid of some type according to statistics reported to the Department of Education). And Greenville’s average financial aid package is around $22,500. A wide choice of majors, a modern online course delivery system, a school rated among the highest we’ve seen by its students and graduates, and a reasonable cost to attend of about $13,000 (according to the dean of admissions) all make Greenville University a 2017 Best Value School. Whether or not you are Christian, you may like this institution once you realize what they have to offer.
"My 4 years at Greenville College were the most transformative years of my life. I grew as a person, learned what it meant to be in true Christian community and began to live into the life God has called me to. I made life-long friendships, connections with professors and an education that will only help me in my future ministry."
