2- and 4-year, Regionally accredited
Degrees: Certificate, Associate's, Bachelor's
One of the few public colleges and universities – we don’t seek them out – you will find as a Best Value School Awardee, Snow College (Ephraim & Richfield, Utah campuses) caught our attention because of three factors: cost to attend, academic offerings, and the overwhelmingly positive feedback regarding Snow by their students and alumni. Primarily awarding associate degrees in the arts and sciences, Snow College also offers a Bachelor of Music with an Emphasis in Commercial Music plus a new one in software engineering. With over 5,100 students – all undergraduates, 90% of whom are under the age of 25 – on two campuses Snow appears to be an ideal “launch pad” for those either heading to a four-year institution (as indicated by the many graduates with an associate’s degree in general studies) or interested in joining the workforce as a skilled individual.
If you live in Utah the cost to attend Snow College is very reasonable. Tuition is less than $4,000 for Utahans. If you’re from out of state tuition jumps to $12,000 – still reasonable in our opinion. In addition to low starting costs, over 85% of Snow’s students receive financial aid, further relieving the cost burden. Many academic programs are available online; check with Snow’s course catalog for updated online offerings.
As a public college, Snow offers a wide range of programs, including the associate’s in general studies mentioned above. Among the most popular are associate degrees (arts/science) in health, including RN and LPN (degree in the former, certificate in the latter); education; business; criminal justice; engineering; natural resources; visual and performing arts; family care; repair technology; social work; and psychology. If you’re a Utah resident you’re fortunate. If you’re not a resident you can still benefit by looking closely at this fine college and perhaps attending online.
