Panama City, Florida

2- and 4-year, Regionally accredited

Degrees: Certificate, Associate's, Bachelor's

Founded in 1957 as a community college, then designated a “state” college awarding four-year degrees in 2011, Gulf Coast State College serves its geographic area well with more than 150 program and degree options. The College has four locations in the Florida panhandle, with its main campus located next to the water in Panama City. GCSC’s programs include associate and bachelor degrees, plus a wide range of certificate programs to serve adult students (those 25 and older) which comprise more than 40% of the school’s 5,500 students.

While an Associate in Arts degree is popular for those planning on earning a bachelor’s degree, other popular fields of study at Gulf Coast include cybersecurity, unmanned vehicle system operations, digital media, culinary & hospitality management and health care professions, the latter of which offers 14 specialized fields, including nursing (RN and BSN programs).  A potential student would not be hard pressed to find an appealing program at Gulf Coast State College.

Gulf Coast offers one of the lowest tuition rates in the state at $3,998 for the fall and spring based on 15 credit hours per semester. The College’s financial aid, including scholarships, is generous and helps defray the cost for many students. Gulf Coast State College primarily serves Floridians, but offers an extensive roster of online courses to students residing anywhere with high speed internet service.  The cost of an education at GCSC is hard to beat, and judging from the student comments we found, almost everyone is happy with Gulf Coast State College.
