Part of the Concordia University system – Lutheran institutions of higher learning – the Saint Paul (Minn.) university serves about 4,400 students, over forty percent of whom are over the age of 25 and attend part time. Concordia – Saint Paul has a wide selection of online programs, especially for graduate students, over ninety percent of whom take courses online. These statistics, including age of the students, part time attendance, and number of online degree programs, indicate this university serves working adults quite well, no matter if they are from Minnesota or elsewhere. We think this is an indicator of a progressive institution, one that working adults should consider.
While Concordia – Saint Paul crows that they reduced “sticker price” by about one-third, it still hovers around $33,000 for full time first year students. That cost to attend, according to the Education Department’s website, is a bit misleading as the net cost is actually about $19,000. Actual – or “net” – cost is reduced from “sticker” by grants and scholarships; over 90% of Concordia’s students receive this type of financial aid.
Concordia has very popular programs in business (bachelor and master), one of which is a master in human resources, a degree we don’t see offered by many institutions. Other popular programs include education (bachelor and especially master programs), health (bachelor and master, plus an online RN-to-BSN), criminal justice (bachelor and master), and exercise/fitness (bachelor and master). There are a wide range of other degree programs like psychology and social services, but we suggest looking at their catalog if you are seeking something other than what we’ve featured here. And if you are a working adult interested in an online degree program this institution is a good place to start.
