4-year, Regionally accredited
Affiliation: Roman Catholic
Degrees: Bachelor's, Master's
This is a women’s college. No men. And it’s one of a shrinking group of great “girls’ schools.” It’s affiliated with the Roman Catholic religion but they offer only one program in theology/religion and there were no graduates in that program for the 2015-2016 school year. But there are popular degree programs in education (bachelor, master, doctorate), health (RN: associate, bachelor, master), a bachelor program in rehabilitation, and business (bachelor plus master in organizational leadership).
The College of Saint Mary received one of the highest grades (student comments we gathered) from current and former students, almost all of whom love the school. Located in Omaha, Nebraska, Saint Mary’s small student population of about one thousand consists of about 260 grad students. One-third of its students are over 24; the same ratio comes to Omaha from out of state. There are some online courses for both undergraduates and graduate students.
And now we’d like to point something out about the College of Saint Mary that we really like, that sets them apart from almost every other college and university in our exclusive group of 2017 Best Value Schools. Where almost every institution keeps their “sticker price” unreasonably high and then discounts it by offering discounts they call “grants” or “scholarships,” Saint Mary has recently done away with this misleading – and we think inexcusable – approach to posting premium pricing and then, usually one hundred percent of the time, bringing the price down to a realistic level. Good for College of Saint Mary for having the guts – and common sense – to price their programs properly! However they choose to spin it, the “new” undergraduate cost to attend drops from a previously inflated $40,000 to less than $20,000 annually. If this is their attitude towards pricing we would guess the knowledge they impart to their students is equally realistic and practical. Sorry, guys, you miss out; this is only for women.
"I work multiple jobs, but I am also a full-time student, and I am enjoying my experience here at College of Saint Mary. I love how dedicated this school is to educate women to become leaders. Even though it's a Catholic school, you do not have to be Catholic to attend, such as myself. This school is diverse and there's always something to do, and I love that. I like that on campus there are dorms for moms and their kids, I know it's really helpful for especially the single parents. "
