A repeat Best Value School Designee and one of the proud historically black colleges, Tougaloo has about 900 fulltime students and a history of social activism. Ninety five percent of the students are under the age of 25; 65% female. Students like the campus (and the nearby mall) and many get involved with charitable functions to help local families.
Instructors are held in high esteem and make an effort to establish a personal connection with their students, which adds to the family atmosphere at Tougaloo. Graduates look back at their time at Tougaloo as a positive, memorable experience.
Students particularly like the social science and psychology programs. A Tougaloo attribute that is somewhat unique is the school’s partnerships with Brown University, Boston College, New York University, and University of Mississippi Medical Center. Combine these attributes with overwhelmingly positive student assessments and low cost and Tougaloo is a school prospective enrollees, black or white, should consider.
